Having spent an incredible week in Lake Como, I’ve compiled a list of most beautiful photo spots in Lake Como that are waiting to fill your feed for months to come. I understand the thrill of capturing that perfect shot, the one that captures the essence of your travels and leaves your followers in awe. Let’s get started!

Your Lake Como itinerary is not complete without these must visit Instagram spots – Villa del Balbianello, Villa Carlotta, Bellagio and Varenna along with a boat tour of Lago di Como! Also don’t forget to get lost in the cobbled streets to find the best FREE photo opportunities as well.

The fairy tale town of Bellagio, also known as the “Pearl of Lake Como” is a treasure trove of Instagram worthly spots. Every corner of this quaint village is breathtaking and is a testament to why it is one of the most beautiful places in Lake Como.

Bellagio might just be the most instagrammable place in Lake Como area. Go early to avoid crowds!

Salita Serbelloni, also known as the “Famous street of Bellagio”, exudes the charm of Lake Como. This steep, narrow cobblestone alley, flanked by vibrant boutiques, quaint cafes is perhaps the most popular spot in Lake Como. Each turn reveals stunning lake views, framed by beautiful stone buildings with balconies adorned by colorful flowers.

From the ferry terminal, head towards Bellagio town center on the street Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini. Look for the street sign “Salita Serbelloni”.

You can also search for “Famous street of Bellagio” to get to the top of the street easily.

I highly recommend visiting this spot as early as possible as it can get quite busy after 10am. We went at around 10.15am and it was neither empty nor too crowded.

A great way to find the best photo spots in Bellagio is to wander the narrow streets for glimpses of the lake, cobbled stoned alleys with colorful buildings. The streets of Bellagio are full of boutique shops to explore and take photos.

The Bellagio waterfront on Lake Como is an Instagrammer’s paradise. Beautiful buildings and quaint cafes line the promenade provide picturesque backdrops for your Instagram. The panoramic views of the lake along with the orange buildings are especially stunning during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset. The boats docked at the shores of Lake Como also add charm to the setting.

Villa Melzi in Bellagio is perfect for Instagram, featuring beautiful gardens and classic architecture. Its colorful flowers, statues, and walking path provide beautiful photo opportunities. The Neoclassical villa is a top spot for Instagram-worthy photos.


Hotel Belvedere is a 5 star hotel in Bellagio that has some of the best views of Lake Como. Each corner of the hotel (including the library) offer best photo spots for Instagram. The veranda at La Terrazza Restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows offers beautiful views of the Lake and the surrounding Alps. The pool and the botanical garden are equally stunning with great views everywhere.

This hotel is another 5 star accommodation that is one of the best in Bellagio and Lake Como. It is opulent and grand with amazing views of Lago di Como. The ornate interiors, from the frescoed ceilings to the crystal chandeliers, offer a glimpse into the Lake Como’s luxury. Each aspect of Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is designed to enhance your Instagram feed with photos.

Even if you are not staying at the hotel, you can still visit by booking a reservaton at one of the restaurants either for lunch or dinner.

Punta Spartivento is the spot where Lake Como divides into two branches, providing a unique vantage point unlike any other. Its distinctive feature is the ability to see both the Como and Lecco branches of the lake. It is one of the best spots to see sunset in Lake Como.

The easiest way to reach Punta Spartivento is to head north from the Bellagio Town Center along Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini. Follow the path along the lakefront promenade. You will reach Punta Spartivento in 10-15 minutes walk by foot.

Varenna on the eastern shores of Lake Como is one of the most colorful and Instagram worthy towns in Lake Como. The cobblestone lanes, vibrant floral displays, and colorful houses provide a stunning backdrop that embodies the essence of a quaint Italian village. The waterfront, with its panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains, offers endless opportunities for photos.

Varenna’s unique appeal is magnified by landmarks like Villa Monastero and Castello di Vezio, offering rich history, botanical gardens and breathtaking views of the lake. The combination of picturesque landscapes, stunning architecture, and serene atmosphere makes the town of Varenna one of the best photo spots in Lake Como.

This charming walking path offers uninterrupted views of the lake, framed by colorful facades of old fishermen’s houses and lush vegetation. Its beauty peaks during sunset when the sky turns hues of purple, pink and orange. We were lucky to have witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets on this promenade and it was unforgettable.

Varenna’s promenade is an Instagram dream. It is one of the best places for unobstructed views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The heart sign on the promenade is a must-see and one of the best photo spot in Varenna. Each step along this walkway presents a new vista, a fresh angle from which to capture the tranquil yet vibrant spirit of Varenna.

Villa Monastero is a beautiful villa known for its stunning botanical gardens and striking panoramic views of Lake Como. The exotic plants and statues in the garden provides a beautiful backdrop against the lake views. It was a monastery turned into Villa and renovated in the late 17th century.

Some of the best spots to take photos are the staircase leading to the gardens, the arched arcades with lake views, the impressive statues in the garden and the expansive rooms of the villa. Every corner of this villa is full of rich history AND Instagram worthy!

Make sure you visit early and book your tickets in advance!

This elegant villa is also a hotel and a popular wedding destination. The botanical gardens and terraced gardens leading down to the shores of Lake Como offer stunning photo opportunities. The villas stone paths and beautiful facade make perfect background for Instagram.

Note that some of the most beautiful spots in the hotel may not be accessible to guests if there is a wedding. Be sure to check if there is a wedding going on.


Looking for the most perfect table set up in Lake Como? Head to Bar Giardino in Hotel Royal Victoria. You can visit the bar even if you are not a guest at the hotel but bar does not take reservations . In order to secure this spot, arrive early right before opening at 11am. The hotel is right next door to Villa Cipressi.

For dreamiest view of the colorful homes of Varenna and its promenade, head to Bar Il Molo. Enjoy the most gorgeous view of Varenna with an aperol spritz or a cappuccino. Bar Il Molo is just a short walk from the ferry terminal and takes about 5 minutes.

We found the best views while wandering through the narrow cobbled streets of Varenna. The texture of the cobblestones, combined with the vibrant colors of the facades provides some of the most eye-catching photos. The photos are especially stunning during sunset.

Castello di Vezio, perched above Varenna on Lake Como, is a great place to view Lake Como and the lakeside towns from above. This ancient fortress, dating back to the medieval era, provides a dramatic backdrop with its stone walls and tower. The castle’s vantage point offers unique opportunity to capture photos with beautiful lake views and the surrounding mountains.

The small town of Tremezzo on the western shore of Lake Como is home to some of the best Instagram spots like Villa Carlotta and Grand Hotel Tremezzo. It is a short ferry ride from Bellagio and is a must visit. We stayed in Tremezzo and had the best time capturing the most gorgeous photos

This 17th-century villa is an iconic Lake Como destination and is a must visit. It is known for its exquisite botanical gardens and stunning architecture.

The interior of Villa Carlotta, with its art collections and ornate rooms, adds a layer of elegance and rich history to your photos. The panoramic terrace overlooking the lake provides a stunning viewpoint. The beautiful sculptures, the sweeping landscapes and the timeless elegance of the villa make Villa Carlotta one of the most best Instagram spots in Lake Como.

Book your tickets early and try to visit in the morning when crowds are less. It is a popular photography spot. We saw several photographers and women in beautiful gowns trying to capture the perfect shot at Villa Carlotta during our visit.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo is one of the most luxurious hotel in Lake Como with breathtaking views and incredible architecture. As with other hotels in Lake Como, you can visit the restaurants and make reservations without being guests at the hotel.

The lush, terraced gardens are great to capture the beauty of this hotel. T Pizza bar with views of swimming pool and the iconic orange umbrellas is another must visit spot for beautiful photos. Even the restrooms in this hotel are Instagrammable. 🙂 Be sure to check out this hotel while in Tremezzo. It is a very short walk from Villa Carlotta.

Parco Olivelli in Tremezzo is a hidden gem on the shores of Lake Como. This was our favorite park to take a stroll and admire the breathtaking views of Lake Como. The park is beautifully landscaped with its lush lawns and scenic pathways. Its standout feature is the ornate fountain with unparalleled views of the lake.

This opulent villa is one of the most popular places in Lake Como. It is the famous Villa where “Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones” and James Bond movies were filmed.

The “Loggia Durini”, with its beautiful arches, provides a picturesque frame for the lake and mountains beyond. It is one of my favorite spots to photograph in the villa. The terraced gardens, marble statues and stunning panoramic views also offer a myriad of photogenic spots.

One of the best ways to capture the beauty of this villa is the boat ride. Be sure to have your camera ready!

During summer months, the tickets get sold out early so be sure to get your tickets as soon as you book your trip.

Menaggio, north of Tremezzo along the western shores of Lake Como, is an underrated gem. This charming town, with its picturesque waterfront promenade, provides stunning views of the lake set against a backdrop of rugged mountains. The vibrant, colorful buildings and piazzas of Menaggio add a lively vibe to your photos.

The town’s somewhat underrated status means that it is not as crowded and easier to take stunning photos for your social media feed.

Menaggio can be reached easily by car, bus C10 from Como, Tremezzo and ferry from Varenna and Bellagio.

Villa d’Este, located in Cernobbio, is an epitome of luxury and beauty, making it an exceptional spot to get incredible photos. This Villa hotel, set in a 16th-century Renaissance villa, is famed for its exquisite gardens that stretch along the lakefront. The interior of the hotel is an Instagram haven with ornate details, marbled pillars and great views of the lake. The iconic floating pool on the lake is a must visit spot to capture great photos. Dine at the Michelin-starred restaurant Veranda for more Insta shots with incredible food and wine.

A private boat tour of Lake Como is one fo the best way to capture Instagram worthy photos of Lake Como towns. A boat trip offers a unique viewpoint of the towns and villas from the lake. From the privacy and comfort of your boat, you can access secluded spots and frame the perfect shots without the crowds.

The flexibility of a private tour gives provides you the best lighting and angles. The boat itself adds an element of luxury and enhances your photo framing and composition. It is one of the best things to do in Lake Como.

This charming boutique hotel, with its stunning lakefront setting, offers a plethora of photo spots. The romantic gazebo, private deck and the interiors of the hotel are incredible for photos. But the real instagrammable photo is the view of the Villa from a boat. It is one the most incredible photos of Lake Como and of my favorite spots to photograph!

The historic center of the city of Como is a beautiful spot and a must visit for Instagrammable shots. Some of the best photo spots in Como town include Como Cathedral (Duomo di Como), The Piazza Duomo. The Tempio Voltiano, a neoclassical museum, is another great spot with its rich history and incredible architecture.

The Brunate Funiculaire, connecting Como with the hilltop village of Brunate, offers a unique opportunity for capturing Instagram-worthy photos thanks to its spectacular panoramic views. At the summit, you will be welcomed by stunning views of the town of Como and the lake. Brunate itself offers quaint streets and Art Nouveau villas that provide a picturesque backdrop.

While in Brunate, do not miss visiting this incredible lighthouse with spectacular views of Como town, the lake and surrounding mountains.

Villa Olmo, famed for its neoclassical architecture and beautifully landscaped gardens is one of the best Instagram spots in Como. This grand villa offers a stunning backdrop of ornate facades and intricate details, perfect for capturing great photos. The expansive gardens with statues, lakeside promenade in front of the villa presents a unique viewpoint for photographers.

Villa La Cassinella, located in Lenno, is an exclusive retreat known for its breathtaking beauty and privacy, making it a coveted spot for Instagram-worthy photos. It is a massive 9 bedroom villa accessible only by boat and the view of the terracota colored building from the water is breathtaking. It is a private villa that is not open to public but the view from the lake is beautiful and is worth visiting if you take a boat tour.

If you love hiking and like to capture natural landscapes for your social media feed, you must hike the Sentiero del Viandante or the wayfarer’s path. This ancient path from Lierna to Varenna on the eastern shores of Lake Como, winds through charming villages, olive groves, and hillsides. Additionally, the path leads through secluded spots like waterfalls and hidden coves.

Orrido di Bellano, a striking gorge carved by the Pioverna River near Varenna, offers a great setting for Instagram photos. The suspension bridge offers a direct view of the waterfall and the deep, narrow sections of the gorge making it a nice place for photos.

Nesso is a hidden gem in Lake Como. It is one of the most picturesque place in Lake Como yet, often overlooked. This village has a beautiful waterfall that flows through the village of Nesso. Accessible via a pathway that winds down through Nesso, this secluded path is an quiet and secluded spot to capture stunning photos. The ancient stone bridge, Ponte della Civera, arching over the gorge is a great place to take picturesque photos for your feed.

The eastern shore of Lake Como is generally regarded as the most beautiful part of Lake Como. The beautiful and most popular towns of Bellagio and Varenna are on the eastern shore.

If you have only a day or two in Lake Como, I highly recommend visiting the most popular tourist attractions like Bellagio, Varenna, Tremezzo and some of the villas like Villa Balbianello and Villa Carlotta. My 2 day itinerary of Lake Como gives you two itinerary options and best places to visit if you are short on time.

To get the most perfect shot for you Instagram, I highly recommend visiting in the early morning during sunrise (if the place is open any time of the day). If you are visiting a villa or a museum, I suggest getting the first slot for fewer crowds. The closing hours are also less crowded but you may not have enough time to capture all the beauty.

Lake Como in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy is one of the most stunning places in the world.
