Amalfi Coast, overlooking Tyrrhenian Sea in Southern Italy, is a collection of several picturesque towns. It is about 60 Kms from Naples and one of the most breathtaking coastal stretches in the world.
Costiera Amalfitana (Italian for Amalfi Coast) is one of my favorite places on earth. We spent over a week in the coastal towns of Amalfi Coast and left my heart there.

A UNESCO world heritage site, Amalfi coast should be on the bucketlist of every traveler, especially those who love turquoise waters, fresh seafood and Mediterranean vibes.

DAY 1 (Arrive in Naples & transfer to Positano)
Like us, you will most likely land in Naples and transfer to Positano or your place of stay in Amalfi Coast.
For the best hassle free experience, I highly recommend a private transfer. This way, you don’t have to drag your luggage to the bus station or ferry stop.
BEST Private tour of Amalfi Coast
Full day, private tour of the towns of Amalfi Coast in a luxury car.
Once you arrive in Positano and checked in, the first stop should be the town square of Positano and familiarize yourself with the town.
Visit the main beach, dine at one of the restaurants and watch the sunset.
DAY 2 (Positano and beach club)
Positano is a colorful vertical village with stacked houses and is the most popular towns in Amalfi Coast. The colorful houses make the perfect backdrop for Instagram worthy photo spots in Amalfi Coast.
Positano is the reason many people visit Amalfi Coast. Yes, it is that beautiful! And it has all the bougie vibes of a luxurious Italian vacation. And believe me, it is worth all the hype!

Start your day with breakfast in a garden at La Zagara or healthy fare at Casa e Bottega.
After breakfast, head to Spiaggia Grande (the main beach of Positano) and spend the morning at one of the beach clubs like L’Incanto.
For something more exclusive, visit my favorite beach club – La Scogliera Beach Club. It is tucked away on the hillside just off the main road and one of the best beach clubs in Amalfi Coast.
For lunch, I highly recommend dining at one of the restaurants by the water on Spiaggia Grande. My absolute favorite is Restaurante Le Tre Sorelle.
We loved it so much that we went here thrice during our trip. The seafood is one of the best we’ve had!
In the afternoon, explore the Positano’s narrow streets lined with boutique shops offering handmade sandals, ceramics, and local fashion.
Check out the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, one of the famous landmarks and main church in Positano.
In the evening, head to Ristorante La Sponda or Franco’s Bar at Le Sirenuse for best views of Positano in golden sunset.
Le Sirenuse is one of the most popular spots for a reason. It is one of the best Instagram spots in Amalfi Coast and Positano. Be sure to make reservations as early as possible.
DAY 3 (The towns of Amalfi and Ravello)
On the third day, check out the main towns of Amalfi, Atrani and Ravello.
To have the most luxurious experience without the hassle of waiting for buses, we took a private day tour of Amalfi, Ravello other towns.
Private transportation or taxi is the best way to visit all the towns in Amalfi Coast. With private transportation, you have the flexibility to customize your itinerary and spend as much time as you want in these towns.
BEST Private tour of Amalfi Coast
Full day, private tour of the towns of Amalfi Coast in a luxury car.
Salvatore, our private taxi driver, was a local and knew all the best spots that weren’t on our radar.
If you have some free time on your way to the town of Amalfi, stop by the beautiful town of Atrani. It is a quick stop on the way and a good place to visit.
Morning in Amalfi Town
Begin your tour of Amalfi town with breakfast at Pasticceria Pansa, a historic pastry shop located in the main square of Piazza Duomo.
Enjoy a cappuccino and traditional Sfogliatella with views of the stunning Amalfi Cathedral.
After breakfast, visit the Cathedral itself, known for its beautiful facade and interiors. Don’t miss the beautiful cloister (Chiostro del Paradiso) inside the cathedral.
Afterwards, explore the cobbled streets of Amalfi and visit Marina Grande, the main marina in Amalfi with spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Afternoon in Ravello
Ravello is one of the best towns to see in Amalfi Coast. The town exudes grandeur and elegance. If you love peace and quiet luxury, you should stay in Ravello.
Ravello is also the musical capital of Italy with several music festivals in the summer. It is one of the best places in Amalfi Coast.
The stunning infinity gardens, terraced hills with breathtaking sea views of Ravello are unparalleled. It is a dream destination in Amalfi Coast.
On your way to Ravello, check out the Cello Factory where Limoncello is made.
Limoncello is a liqueur made of Amalfi lemons and often used as apertif. If you have not tried limoncello, you are missing out!
Our driver took us to the Cello factory and we loved the tastings and learning about how limoncello is made. We bought several traditional and unique flavors like the pistacho crema.
Once in Ravello, head straight to Villa Cimbrone and explore the Terrazza dell’Infinito (Terrace of Infinity) gardens with the most breathtaking views.
Villa Cimbrone is the most famous spot in Ravello and featured in several movies like Wonder Woman.
The sculptures overlooking the sea, the infinity gardens and terrace are so beautiful that I cannot put in words. You have to see it to believe it. I imagine this is what heaven would look like!
Later in the afternoon, check out Villa Rufolo and stroll through the beautiful gardens and panoramic views of the coastline.
Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Ravello’s quaint streets, boutique shops, and art galleries.
End your day in Ravello with a memorable dinner at Salvatore Ravello with beautiful sea views.
DAY 4 (Private boat tour of Capri)
I still dream of the stunning views of Capri! It is truly heaven on earth.
Your 5 day Amalfi Coast itinerary would not be complete without a trip to Capri island!
The most luxurious and best way to explore Capri in a day is through private tours. Many companies offer small group tours and private boat trips directly from Positano, Amalfi and Sorrento. This is one of the best tours with glowing reviews.
You can also take a ferry to Capri from Positano and other towns in Amalfi Coast like Sorrento, Amalfi and take a private boat from Capri Marina.
We took the ferry to Capri and then a private boat tour of the island but I would’ve preferred a private boat directly from Positano for the flexibility.
Half Day Tour of Capri by Private Boat
4 hour personalized tour with 100+ 5-star reviews and expert skipper/guide.
Start your morning by cruising through the crystal-clear waters of the iconic Blue Grotto and Marina Piccola. You cannot miss the most popular Faraglioni rock formations.
Stop by La Fontelina, Capri’s most famous and exclusive beach clubs.
For lunch, stop at the stunning restaurant in Hotel Caesar Augustus. This farm to table restaurant in AnaCapri offers breathtaking sea views and delicious seafood.
After lunch, walk around the boutique shops and charming streets of Capri.
If you have time and care to take a hike, check out Montesolaro in Anacapri. You can either take a chair lift or hike all the way up.
Before leaving Capri, stop for dinner under lemon groves at the most incredible Da Paolina.
This restaurant with tables set under lemon groves is the most romantic restaurant to eat at and a must visit. Be sure to make reservations as soon as you book your trip.
DAY 5 (Smaller towns of Amalfi Coast and a cooking class)
In the morning of Day 5, explore the smaller towns like Praiano, Furore and Conca dei Marini. These small towns with authentic Italian charm are great to explore.
Stop by Salvatore’s fruit stand for the best sea views and fresh fruit juice.
Alternatively, you could also visit Salerno (the largest town in Amalfi Coast) and Vietri Sul Mare – two beautiful towns an hour from Positano. These two towns are probably the most overlooked Amalfi Coast towns.
Some people also prefer to hike the path of the gods (a spectacular hike with incredible views) but I excluded it as this blogpost is focused on luxury experiences.
Visit Arienzo Beach Club, an exclusive beach club in a secluded bay accessible by a private boat. This beach club is one of the best beach clubs in Amalfi Coast!
If you can’t get reservation to Arienzo club, check out Da Adolfo or the beach club at Fornillo beach. These are two of my favorite spots in Positano.
In the late afternoon, take a cooking class. We visited La Tagliata for a cooking class and dinner. The class included bruscetta, pasta and tiramisu making.
We loved this cooking class and the sea views from this restaurant. While it may not be your traditional way of spending time in Amalfi Coast, it is one of the best things we did on our trip.

If the class at La Tagliata is all booked, try this highly rated cooking class with gnocchi and tiramisu making.
End your amazing trip to the Amalfi Coast with sunset and dinner at Zass restaurant at Il San Pietro hotel.
