20 Most Instagrammable places in Barcelona and Best Photo Spots

Palau de la Musica Catalana

With the most colorful architectural marvels, charming old city neighborhoods and stunning beaches, Barcelona is every instagrammer’s dream! If you want a mix of everything from colorful buildings to medieval churches to cobblestoned alleys and beach views, you MUST visit Barcelona! I wrote about Barcelona’s top attractions, awe-inspiring Gaudí architecture and foodie’s guide to Barcelona but I still felt like I was missing something. Hence this guide to the best photo spots in Barcelona. A word of advice though – do not get anxious and rush to cover all the Instagrammable spots. Remind yourself that you CANNOT get perfect shots of all of them. You CANNOT visit all of them unless you have a week to explore. Choose a few based on your timeline and plan ahead. Get the earliest tickets available for best photo opportunities.

Looking for a place to stay in Barcelona?

Check out these unique boutique hotels to make your stay unique and comfortable.

NOTE: While it is fun to show off these locations on social media, there is much to learn about the history of these places and the stories behind them. Spend some time learning about the history as well.

Most Instagrammable Gaudí buildings in Barcelona

Barcelona is pretty much synonymous with Gaudí’s architecture. Many of the Instagrammable places in Barcelona are easily Gaudí’s incredible buildings. While La Sagrada Familia is the most famous of his works, his other works are equally stunning and make for the best photo spots in Barcelona. Here is a list of my favorites.

La Sagrada Familia

This unfinished work of Gaudí doesn’t need any introduction. His most famous and most intricate work is absolutely stunning! These are some of the best locations inside and outside La Sagrada Familia.

NOTE: Get your tickets early if you plan to go up the towers.

Casa Batlló

This is one of the best and colorful works of Gaudí. It is easily one of my favorites. You will absolutely love the colors and details! For tips on how to avoid the crowds, read this post.

Park Güell

Another must visit of Gaudí’s is Park Güell. It is also the cheapest as most of the park premises are free to enter. If you can, watch the sunrise from here. It is also pretty big and could easily take hours to wander around!

Casa Mila (La Pedrera)

Casa Mila is the last one of Gaudí buildings that we visited. The rooftop terrace with chimneys shaped like Star Wars figures is the highlight of Casa Mila.

Casa Vicens

We did not get a chance to visit this building but it sure looks like a place worthy of Instagram!

El Born & Gothic Quarter

El Born and Gothic Quarter are part of the old city of Barcelona. These are home to Cathedral de Barcelona and Palau de la Musica Catalana which are two of my favorite Instagrammable places in Barcelona. Walk a lot in the area and stumble upon random spots that are great for photo ops.

Palau de la Musica Catalana

This beautiful concert hall requires pre booking for a tour. You will surely be astounded by the grandeur of this hall. The stained glass ceiling will make your jaw drop! Try to watch a flamenco performance while you are there.

Cathedral de Barcelona

Cathedral de Barcelona is an interesting gothic cathedral to visit. Don’t forget to go inside and up the roof top for incredible views of Barcelona.
